Purpose
The purpose of this year's video interview is to allow scholars to express their interest in one of the career industries being taught this summer. In the Young Professionals Program, scholars are preparing for advocating for their future by taking steps that will lead into possible career opportunities. Video interviews offer several benefits in the career preparation process. They provide scholars with the opportunity to showcase their communication skills and express their interest in specific career industries. Additionally, video interviews allow scholars to gain experience in presenting themselves professionally and adapting to new technologies, which are crucial skills in today's job market.
In order to place scholars in the appropriate industry for the summer, professors will review each video and career assessment. Professors will assess the videos based on scholars' ability to effectively communicate their interest in a specific career industry, as well as their professionalism and adaptability to new technologies. They will also consider scholars' level of preparation and understanding of the career industry they are expressing interest in.
Video Interview Directions
Video Directions: Exploring Your Summer Career Choice at Entitled Learning
Introduction:
Start by introducing yourself: Share your name and a brief background about your interests.
Career Ranking:
Rank the careers: Rate the three summer career options (Real Estate Development, Journalism, Cultural Arts) from 1 to 3, with 1 being your most interested and 3 being your least favorite.
Career Experiences:
Discuss your experiences: Share any experiences or projects you've had in each field, whether in school or personal projects.
Persuasion:
Persuade for your top choice: Convince why your top-ranked career is your preferred choice for the summer.
Explain your passion for this field:
Mention any specific skills or talents you bring to the table.
Share how your unique perspective can contribute to the chosen career.
Conclusion & Closing thoughts:
Summarize your excitement for the upcoming summer and express your gratitude for the opportunity.
Technical Tips & Camera setup:
Make sure you have good lighting, and your face is clearly visible.
Choose a clean and quiet space for recording.
Keep the video between 2-5 minutes to ensure it's engaging and concise.

Applicants who submit their videos late will not be guaranteed a position in their first choice of career. As part of the Young Professionals learning model, scholars are expected to complete these tasks. The monatery reward will be impacted if steps 1-3 have not been completed (Steps 1 - 3 for new scholars, steps 2 & 3 for returning scholars). If scholars fail to complete steps 1-3 (or steps 2 & 3 for returning scholars), their monetary reward may be affected. Incomplete tasks may result in a deduction or reduction in the amount of the reward, as they are an essential part of the Young Professionals learning model and demonstrate the commitment and effort of the scholars.
